Two weeks ago the first snow of winter 2012 show. Does anyone have a great recommendation? And as I was spoiled by my grandmother and then by my mother I want to bring that touch of magic back in my own family as well. On 16 December 1989, riots in the Romanian city of Timisoara ignited a nationwide revolt which spread to the capital Bucharest. Unfortuantely, I couldn't find an appropriate recipe in our extensive cookbook research library. The newest Herald Press cookbook, Mennonite Girls Can Cook Celebrations, is now in the warehouse and we are obviously excited and pulling out all the stops to help sell this book. But there are also personal motivations. Im looking for a Romanian Cookbook to give to my dad for Christmas. Romanian Ruminations An eighteenth century cookbook gave a recipe for "Water Gruel," made of oatmeal and water, and flavored with butter and pepper. The end result is a winner, in my opinion! And after we got our drinks (a Romanian “juice” for me and a Romanian beer for Blai), he came back and kindly presented me with a gift of a Romanian cookbook!
